The drawings and sculpture of Debi O'Hehir reflect the immediacy and intensity with which she lives
her life. The fluid, high spirited, and seemingly effortless energy in her work belie the years of
disciplined figurative study and search for her unique voice.

Her "voice" is the visual song with which she expresses her unbounded connection
to the horse.
At once, a celebration of horse-ness and human-ness, the works could nearly
be self-portraits, expressed as 'horse' and inspired by a lifetime of contact, physically
and emotionally, with the animal.

Her ink drawings are unedited. The lively way in which she directs such a mercurial medium, captures
beautifully, the raw, unedited energy of horse-being. Her sculptural work, mostly in wire and
bronze, is similarly energized and evocative.
The pieces resonate with a deep sense of connection
to the horse, unhindered by time and place, or the 'interference' of the artist's hand. She manages
to express simply and gracefully, all of herself and none of herself, at the same time.
